Course Description :

Explore one of the leading books of the Apocrypha and investigate how Jews integrated and combatted dominant Greek culture, maintaining their own Jewish identity despite anti-Jewish laws and massive assimilation. The book of Maccabees tells the startling account of what life was like for the Jews under Seleucid rule after the death of Alexander the Great. The course will reveal how Hellenized Jews and religious Jews clashed over assimilation to a Greek way of life versus keeping true to Torah. Be among the very few Jews who have ever read or studied The Books of Maccabees.

About the Instructor:
 

Rabbi Dr. Leon Weissberg is the former Director of the Leo Martin March of the Living in Miami-Dade and in Boca Raton. He has a doctorate in Educational Leadership and offers courses at various South Florida universities and schools. Leon has been teaching for the past 35 years, developing a fan base and following wherever he goes.
