“The Hebrew language will go from the synagogue to the house of study, and from the house of study to the school, and from the school it will come into the home and... become a living language.”
— Eliezer Ben-Yehuda (1858–1922), the driving force behind the revival of Hebrew as a modern spoken language and a cornerstone of Jewish national identity.

Course Description

This advanced-level Hebrew course is designed to expand your vocabulary and strengthen your speaking, reading, and comprehension skills through engaging excerpts from literary works and contemporary media about life in today’s Israel.

Our selected readings will highlight the rich interplay between ancient sources—both in language and spirit—and the vibrant, modern Hebrew spoken by millions in Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.

New students will be connected with the instructor for an evaluation through a one-on-one telephone conversation to make sure the level is a good fit for a meaningful experience.
